The Neptune water meters accumulate near-real-time knowledge, which town and prospects can use to detect leaks and optimize water utilization, stated Public Providers Director James Baker.
Meters are changed with each lead service line substitute, Baker stated. They’re additionally put in every time new providers are related to the system or an present meter is in want of restore.
There are presently 7,500 sensible meters in operation throughout town’s 46,000-meter system, Baker stated.
The town will change 1,300 lead service traces within the Edison neighborhood this yr, Baker stated. The vast majority of meters bought in January might be put in there.
